Dr. Cabel McCandless joins Towson University as an assistant professor of exercise science. His research investigates the intersection of biomechanics, fatigue and attentional cueing in human movement, bridging the disciplines of biomechanics and motor behavior through his published work. Dr. McCandless earned both his B.S. and M.S. in Exercise Science from SUNY Cortland before completing his Ph.D. in Kinesiology at New Mexico State University. Since his master’s program, he has taught a broad range of lecture and laboratory courses in anatomy, biomechanics and research methodology, employing evidence-based teaching strategies that foster critical inquiry and practical application among his students. Outside the classroom, Dr. McCandless has applied his expertise in consulting roles with the United States Olympic Committee and sports technology startups, translating research insights into performance-focused practice. An avid endurance athlete, he enjoys outdoor running and regularly competes in trail ultramarathons.
